Your one last chance to embrace winter before it melts away is in March. Snow still blankets the area, creating ideal conditions for skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, and other cold-weather favorites, while slightly longer days hint at the warmer fun in the future months to come, March is a quieter, less crowded time to enjoy winter activities.
In April, there are good times and good laughs to be had at one of the most beloved Traverse City festivals, which draws some of the biggest names in comedy. The legendary Iceman Cometh Challenge kicks things off with a grueling 30-mile off-road bike race, followed a few weeks later by the beloved Flannel & Flapjacks Festival, a lively day featuring jack pine lumberjack shows, pancakes, beer, and live music.
